T-90S Main Battle Tank
The T-90 Main Battle Tank (MBT) is a further development of the T-72. It was adopted by the Russian Army in 1993 and its low-rate production commenced in 1994. Currently, the Russian Army operates around 750 – 1 000 of these MBTs of all variants.

BMP-1 Infantry Fighting Vehicle
The development of the BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicle commenced in 1960. It entered service with the Soviet Army in 1966. The BMP-1 was first shown publicly in 1967 and created quite a stir in the West by its apparent combination of mobility protection and gun/missile firepower. This infantry fighting vehicle was produced in large numbers. In its day the BMP-1 was the vehicle that others were measured by and the type was churned out in thousands in the former Soviet Union. It was widely exported to the Soviet allies. The BMP-1 was also produced in China, Czechoslovakia, and Romania. From those four nations sprang a whole host of variants to meet just about every combat requirement from artillery observation to armored engineering vehicle.

BMP-2/BMP-2D Infantry Fighting Vehicle
The BMP-2 IFV first appeared in the late 1970s and many are regarded as a product improved BMP-1. Its development commenced in the early 1970s. The first prototype was completed in 1974. Many of the drawbacks of the BMP-1 were eliminated. It was accepted to service with the Soviet Army in 1980. It was first publicly revealed in 1982. The BMP-2 has been produced in large numbers, the Soviet Army alone is estimated to have received some 20 000 vehicles.

GAZ Tigr-m/GAZ Tigr-m Kord
The GAZ-2330 Tigr (Russian for tiger) light utility vehicle was designed by the famous Russian automaker GAZ for military and civil markets. The GAZ-2975 is a military version. This high mobility vehicle was modeled after the US HMMWV.

SU-27 Flanker KH59/S-13/GSH Air Superiority fighter
The Su-27 was developed primarily for Russia’s air-defense interceptor forces. Work on the T-10 design that led to the Su-27 began in 1969. The requirement was for a highly maneuverable fighter with very long-range, heavy armament and modern sensors, capable of meeting the F-15 on equal terms. The first T-10 prototype (Western reporting name Flanker-A) flew in 1977.

M1A2 Abrams Sep I (Tusk I) Main Battle Tank
The M1A2 Abrams main battle tank is a further development of the M1A1. Currently, it is one of the best MBTs in the world. The development of improved M1A1 began in 1988. About 1 200-1 500 M1A2 main battle tanks were delivered to the US army. Out of this number, approximately 1 000 out-dated M1 main battle tanks were upgraded to the M1A2 standard.

M2A2/M2A3 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle
In 1972 the US Army requested a design proposal to meet a requirement for a mechanized infantry fighting vehicle. It was developed in response to the Soviet BMP-1 IFV. A complex series of design submissions and changing specifications followed until a Fighting Vehicle System appeared, comprising two vehicles, an IFV which became M2 Bradley and Cavalry Fighting Vehicle which became the M3. It was designed as a better-armored replacement for the aging M113 armored personnel carrier.

M6A2 Bradley Linebacker Infantry Fighting Vehicle
The M6 Linebacker short-range air defense system was developed by Boeing to meet the US Army requirements. The new vehicle was intended to counter the threat posed by low-flying aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles to forward armored formations.

M1025 HMMWV
Currently, the HMMWV or High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle is the most widely used military light utility vehicle in the world. The HMMWV was designed by the AM General. Production of the baseline M998 commenced in 1981. The initial batch of these utility vehicles was delivered to the US Army in 1983.

F-15E Strike and Ground Attack Aircraft
Trials of the F-15 in the air-to-ground role began during 1982 when McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) modified the second TF-15A two-seater as the Strike Eagle as a private venture. The Strike Eagle was seen as a possible replacement for the F-111, and emerged as the winner of evaluation over its rival, the General Dynamics F-16XL, for the USAF’s Enhanced Tactical Fighter program. The first production F-15E made its maiden flight on 11 December 1986.
