Atomic Heart – How to Fix (Mouse, Videos, Voice)

A guide on how to fix PC problems (FOV, mouse acceleration, skip startup videos, voice) for Atomic Heart.

How to Fix (Mouse, Videos, Voice)

The game ships without a FOV slider, a way to disable mouse accel, and has a surprising amount of startup videos. Here’s how to fix all that.

FOV / Widescreen

Download Flawless Widescreen[www.flawlesswidescreen.org] and install. Once installed, open it up, use the search bar to find “Atomic Heart”. Select and install it. Keep this program running while playing the game.

The FOV slider in the program updates live, so you can run the game, alt-tab, adjust the FOV until it’s what you like.

Mouse Acceleration

Make sure the game is not running.

Open the config directory for the game. On Windows, for the Steam version, this will be “%LOCALAPPDATA%\AtomicHeart\Saved\Config”. Depending on how you got the game, the folder to open from there will be different.

For Steam windows version, the folder will be “WindowsNoEditor”
For Gamepass windows version, the folder will be “WinGDK”

Edit “Engine.ini” in Notepad, and add the following lines;

[Engine.PlayerInput] bEnableMouseSmoothing=False [/script/engine.inputsettings] bEnableMouseSmoothing=False

You probably don’t actually need both, I just didn’t bother to see which one took effect. Because I’m lazy, I’d also put them into “Input.ini”. I never remember the precedence of these. If anyone comments on which one is actually required, let me know and I’ll edit.

Save the file and reopen the game.

Startup Videos

This one’s easy. Navigate to the game’s install directory, and find “AtomicHeart/Content/Movies” (on Steam this is “\steamapps\common\Atomic Heart\AtomicHeart\Content\Movies”).

Delete everything that begins with “Launch”. At the time of writing, that’s 10 videos.

Annoying Voice Work fix

The voice work and writing in this game are a bit atrocious. If the main character’s constant whining and contrarianism are hurting your immersion, do what I did – change the audio language to Russian (or some other language you don’t speak), and keep the subtitles and UI language as English (or whatever language you do say).

Look I know it’s not a PC fix, but I had to mention how much better it makes the experience when you can’t understand the language.
