We’ll cover how to create your new game and customize it to your liking. While you could just click “New Game” and jump right in, there are actually quite a few things to consider if you want to optimize your experience.

Scenario

First, you’ll want to choose the scenario you want to play. If you’re new to the game, the beginner scenario might be a good place to start, but if you hover over each scenario, you’ll see tooltips that explain the modifiers for that scenario. You might find a scenario that suits your playstyle better.

Customization

Next, you’ll want to customize your game settings. You can choose the number of players, the difficulty level, and whether you want to play simultaneous or classic rounds. You can even adjust the player distance to make the game more challenging.

But the real fun comes in customizing your empire. You can choose the geography and zone types of your empire, which will affect the resources and terrain you have access to. You can also choose the inhabitants of your empire, from astral invaders to weekend flora. And if you want to really customize your game, you can add up to four additional properties to your map.
